The sphinx is a creature that needs no introduction. She's one of the most famous characters in folklore from around the SWANA/Mediterranean area. A cunning and intelligent being fond of riddles and games, often played against unsuspecting adventurers.

Her design was largely informed by historical dresses from around Babylon and Assyria, with accessories inspired by ancient Greek artifacts. She herself is meant to look like a dark-skinned Egyptian woman from northern Africa, with a bob-length beaded loc wig commonly worn by many ancient Egyptians.

Her long padded hands are meant to look like the midpoint between a hand and a paw, to better match the lion's hindquarters she has. Her wings are inspired by the golden eagle, endemic to Greece.
