Zosia's magic staff is inspired by the Clow staff from Cardcaptor Sakura. I love the look of a floating object in a round frame, bows and wings. I think it really ties her whole look together.
Her magic book is a pre-existing prop I made back in 2023 that I painstakingly rigged so it could open and close like a real book. There are magical diagrams and spells inside it that glow blue when she's learning or casting them. I wanted it to look like an ancient tome she picked up on the road.
Polymnia's shredder bass is inspired by the Gibson Flying V, but shaped more with battle in mind. It has one long pokey end that she uses to gore attackers and defend against smaller spells, and a pick guard that's guarded against more blades than plectrums. On the back is a crude carving to show Polymnia's ownership and attunement.
I wanted this bass to communicate that it's been used as a piece of spell-casting equipment, but also a piece of physical weaponry. It's covered in scratches, singe holes and battle damage because she hits people with it and hides behind it when she fights.
Esther's heartbreaker mace was probably my favorite prop to design. It's covered in spikes and glitter, just like she is, and it's almost as tall as her character model. I think it complements her look perfectly and could also do a ton of damage.
Esther herself has a kind of Electra Heart energy, and I wanted to bring it home in the form of this huge heart-shaped mace she carries around.
Bellona's skullreaver axe is a weapon of divine punishment. It's absolutely massive and covered in spikes. The raised curly detailing coming out around the heartshaped hole in the middle only serves to lull any opponents into a false sense of security before she absolutely wrecks shop with it.
Some of the oldest stuff I've made that I still like enough to use - it's from the very beginning of 2023 - and it has very few, if any, painted textures. But these don't need to look fancy or pretty, they just have to look horrible and menacing, and in the right light, they definitely do. I'm so glad I get to use these in a project as is, because I'm honestly still really happy with how they all look, even two years on.
Se'Pio prefers to use vintage surgery tools and syringes in his mad scientist lab. He likes a bit of pomp and circumstance, and he really loves to lay it on thick for his test subjects. I wanted to use these old props to communicate his love for the dramatic.
